Course programme:

Structure of polymer chains, stereo-regularity, cis-trans isomerization, branching isomerization. Morphology, two-phase structure. Differences in the systems of small molecules and macromolecules. Long-range elasticity.

Crystallization and morphological domains: amorph phases, spherolites, crystalline monolites, fibrilles.

Investigation methods of supramolecular structures. Kinetics of supramolecular structure formation: homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation, crystal growth.

Effect of heat treatment on polymer structures.

Fillers in polymer matrixes.

Surface modification of solids via hydrophobization.

Reactive surfeces via hydrophobization. Nanoparticle surface functionalizatzion and incorporation in polymer matrixes.

Preparation methods of nanocomposites: polymerization techologies in the presence of nanoparticles.

Structural investigation: X-ray diffraction, thermoanalysis, electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy.

Spectroscopy of polymers and nanocomposites: infrared, ESR and NMR.
